Then, at the next store, I found this fixture, which already looks old and rustic:and the lady gave it to me for FREE!
These "candles" were $2.00 each, but i figured i could make them look old as well. The best thing, they have sensors that make them come on when the light dims. Love that!!!
While we are on the subject of lighting, These are the lighting fixtures that were in the kitchen when we moved in. What do you think? Should I keep them? Yes I need suggestions, and while we are at it, There is a sneak peak of my kitchen cabinets, too. Paint them? Paint the hardware? What do you think I should do?
Thanks for your suggestions!!!
Great deals on those light fixtures, and I can't wait to see how you age them, because I don't know how to do that! I won't give an opinion on painting your cabinets, because I wish the previous owners hadn't painted ours, just so I'd have the option myself whether to keep them wood or paint them. Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteYou got some good deals on the light fixtures and i'm too eager to see how you antique them.
ReplyDeleteWell if you are like me you are going to paint the cabinets. Mine are a shade darker but need help. I can't wait to get going on ours.
ReplyDeleteYours maybe in good enough shape to sand and re-stain in another shade too. Maybe go to DYI network.com for idea's on the fixtures or even a google search to see re does of lightening.
Good luck. Do post what you end up doing :)

Wow! You found a lot of bargains. I think my favorite is the first one.
ReplyDeleteI think the kitchen light fixtures would look updated with a good spray of black paint. Nice finds you have there. I haven't ventured into lighting yet. Baby steps with this thrifting business! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteCher,
ReplyDeleteI really want to find a good deal on a chandelier like you did to use outdoors with candles over my patio table. You lucky girl! Maybe I'll be so lucky! :)
I think painted cabinets are great. My hubby loves his wood, so I don't even ask anymore, but if you could pull it off, I think it would look great! I love, love, love barn red painted cabinets with black hardware (or that tuscan bronzed). I also like buttermilk distressed with black under it too! I'm sure whatever you decide will be great! Good luck on that venture!
Thanks again for stopping by my blog. Have a great day, Cher!

Thanks for joining in on the junk party and, of course, I would say paint the cabinets and give them a faux finish! All the way! Love all the lighting you found and can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteHello Cher - love your light fixtures. I would definitely keep the ones in your kitchen, but paint them black. And I would paint the cabinets a creamy white! Can't wait to see what you do with everything!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marie
